2016 Threbdo Blues Festival
This year’s Thredbo Blues Festival boasts one of the most celebrated line-ups ever featuring twenty five of Australia’s greatest Blues acts.
Russell Morris returns by popular demand headlining a weekend showcasing many of Australia’s top Ladies in Blues including Gail Page – 2016 ‘The Voice’ finalist, Andy Just and the Third Degree, Fiona Boyes, Andrea Marr Band, Christina Crofts, Genevieve Chadwick, Greg Dodd & The Hoodoo Men and DJ Gosper.
Also, in an exceptional new direction for the festival, there will be a cabaret – The Pearl Show -The Janis Joplin Story, featuring the outstanding voice of Liza Ohlback. Liza is backed-up with a star-studded chorus of blokes, the likes of Glen Cardier, Foreday Riders, Nick Charles, Darren Jack, James Southwell, Shane Pacey – the list goes on and on.
“We have tried to combine Blues veterans with up-and-coming players, covering acoustic, electric, Blues and Roots, and I feel we have arrived at a superb blend. We are also proud to showcase the cream of Australian women Blues players” – Stewart Wauchop Artistic Director for the Thredbo Blues Festival.
“Each year we receive applications from many super Australian Blues players and have to make the tough decisions – this year has been no different. The hard part done, now we can sit back and enjoy a weekend of Blues partying at the top of Australia – beautiful Thredbo he said.
Thredbo Blues is also a favourite with the artists. The sassy soulful Andrea Marr is excited about heading back to Thredbo “Thredbo Blues Festival is easily one of the most unique and special blues festivals in Australia. The people are amazing, the food is amazing, the view is unbelievable..I have had the honour of playing here quite a few times and Thredbo ROCKS, Love, love, love it’ she said.
