A Taste of Honey September 20 2012
“In the spring a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love”-Alfred Lord Tennyson. And its fitting then that spring and love lead to ‘Dodi Li’ from King Solomon’s ‘Song of Songs’(I am my beloved and my beloved is mine) and the beautiful song ‘Erev Shel Shoshanim’(Evening of Roses) sung by Mark Masri in Arabic(pic.left) with Amy Sky dueting in Hebrew.I am particularly fascinated by Abbey Lincoln (pic right)who has this eccentric way about her vocals and her lyrics to Freddie Hubbard’s music on ‘Up Jumped Spring’ could not be more perfect for todays playlist-only time for a selection of Springtime and September songs but you get the idea and whether its Southern Hemisphere or Northern Hemisphere, its definitely time to enjoy the warmth that Spring brings and the warmth of all the great songs inspired by the new season.
