ZOFOMOMA is a spectacular blend of contemporary art and music – Eva-Maria Zimmermann and Keisuke Nakagoshi are ZOFO, the ‘20-Finger Orchestra’ who’ve electrified audiences worldwide with their dazzling artistry and outside-the-box programming for piano-four-hands. In their first Australian tour, the ZOFOMOMA concert will showcase 20thand 21stcentury repertoire and commissioned new works from top composers around the globe, asking each to select a painting representative of his or her culture as a springboard to the creative process. Musica Viva’s Artistic Director, Carl Vine has written new music inspired by paintings from Australia. Musica Viva has teamed up with Vivid Sydney to celebrate the connection of art and music.

After a 29-year absence from the stage, Stan Kouros, co-founder of Actors Centre Australia (ACA), will take the role of Walker – a country cop, in Boy Out of the Country. A fast and funny observation of regional life, family and the price of progress, Felix Nobis’ award-winning play tells the story of troubled country boy, Hunter, who returns home from the city after a mysterious seven-year absence to find the family property swept up in a new development, his mother in aged care, and his brother Gordon in charge. Written in vernacular verse reminiscent of the poetic tradition of Banjo Patterson, Boy Out of the Country is a bush ballad for contemporary Australia, where country towns come to terms with rapid social change, backyards are less important than extra bedrooms, and the places that were once so familiar can change before our eyes.
Actor, Stan Kouros is my guest today.
