Tamar Davis @ The Foundry 616

Returns to for the first time since her mesmerising 2018 Bluesfest performances in front of The New Power Generation

Tamar Davis is a true entertainer with a fully developed stage presence. She’s sassy and sexy but also able to laugh at herself, a trait solely missing from a genre filled with dour, overly serious women” ~ Pioneer Press

Ashley Támar Davis, gained worldwide attention for co-writing the Grammy-nominated duet ‘Beautiful, Loved, and Blessed’ with music legend Prince from his acclaimed ‘3121’ album but dig a little deeper and you will discover a fiercely independent artist who continues to create her own path.

Described by the New York Times as having “a voice that can fill 3 stadiums and the moves of Tina Turner”, Davis returns to Australia for the first time since her mesmerising performances out front of The New Power Generation in 2018.

With the official release of her shelved ‘Milk & Honey’ album due in 2019 Ms. Davis is set to hit the road for a series of showcase performances throughout the USA, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

A veritable knockout with voluminous hair, desirable curves and feisty moves, Davis has sung for Presidents, appeared on ‘Saturday Night Live’ ‘Good Morning America’, BET and Brit Awards, ‘Good Morning Houston’, NAACP Image Awards and much more. Via her own Syren Music Group Tamarlaunched 2 independent albums ‘My Name is Tamar’ and ‘I Am the Storm’ which have garnered impressive sales in Japan, UK, Europe and the United States with features appearing in VIBE magazine, the New York Times and US Weekly to name but a few.

Tamar cultivated her talent at Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts before moving to Los Angeles to study music at the University of Southern California. She graduated not only with classical training and a Bachelor of Music degree, but also with the ability to sing in French, Italian, German, and Swahili.

A native of Texas Davis started her musical career alongside Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland in Girl’s Tyme, a group that would go on to achieve worldwide fame as Destiny’s Child.

Davis starred as Sarah Vaughan in ‘Sarah Sings a Love Story’, was a feature performer in the first national tour of ‘Motown: The Musical’ and recently nominated for Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone) for the critically acclaimed Broadway show ‘A Night with Janis Joplin’. She has toured with Tyler Perry’s ‘Madea Gets a Job’, ‘Madea’s Big Happy Family’, ‘Laugh to Keep from Crying’, ‘The Marriage Counselor’ and many more.

“In an age of gimmicks and over processed sounds, the nostalgic idea of authentic vocals and magnetic stage presence seems un-imaginable. But there’s power in experiencing Grammy-nominated artist Tamar Davis: reminiscent of funk, soul, rock and R&B. She evinces passion meeting entertainment through her authentic, high-energy performances that makes her “Prince’s favorite singer” – Washington Post
