When you think of the FIFA World Cup, it’s dazzling, exciting and full of eager fans waiting to see their home country take home the gold! There’s also the expectation that the winning team will take home quite the pay check – at least, that can be expected for the mens team.
The winning women’s team will be taking home $4 million to share amongst the team this year, double the amount that was offered for the previous FIFA Women’s World Cup. Compare this to the mens team that pocketed $34 million, it begs the question, why is there such a huge pay discrepancy despite both teams playing the same game?
