Eastside is looking for Drive Producers!
There’s more to community radio than having great taste in music (though that obviously helps!).
Eastside Radio is a community radio station based in Paddington, Sydney, and broadcasting to the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and the greater Sydney area, where it can be heard as far west as the Blue Mountains. The station can also be heard around the world via online streaming and playback available on demand. We focus on a range of specialist music genres, including jazz in its many styles, soul, blues and funk, afro, Cuban and Brazilian, gypsy, world music and dance; with a little bit of folk and alternative country thrown in.
The station also specialises in broad coverage of the arts through its weekday morning Arts programmes, and the afternoon Drive programmes.
Drive specialises in local community news and political issues, with some coverage of local music, organisations and occasional arts coverage.
We’re looking for people to join the Drive production team, particularly on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This is a volunteer position.
Producers help presenters in:
- Booking guests
- Editing podcasts
- Creating social media posts
- Taking photos in studio
- Panelling
- Filling in for presenters on air as required
We are looking for people who have an interest in either the local arts scene, community issues or local government and are available between 4pm and 6pm on either a Tuesday or a Wednesday. You will also be required to plan and prepare with your presenter outside of these hours.
We will provide training in using the panel, booking and interviewing guests, building a show rundown, presenting a 2 hour radio show and using social media channels and editing podcasts to build audiences.
As a small station there is a lot of scope to carve out your own niche area of expertise at the station and build up skills in the industry as well as work with other people who share your interests.
If you’re interested in getting involved then please email the station via programming@eastsidefm.org with the subject line “Interest in Drive Producer role”. Please also include a current CV and any relevant experience/interests.
