Elena Kats-Chernin’s new opera based on the life of Brett Whiteley

This is the stuff of opera.

Celebrated composer Elena Kats-Chernin discusses the characters, the music and the long process of collaboration, that after two years has culminated in the opera,

Whiteley.

Opening this week at the Sydney Opera House it promises a visual feast of Whiteley’s art immersed in a dramatic score.

Also violinist, Thibaud Pavlovic-Hobba of the Flinders Quartet reveals an exciting Shostakovich String Quartets concert at the Independent Theatre in North Sydney, with a sumptuous afternoon tea as part of the package.
