Matthew Evans, the author of the new book On Eating Meat, chats to David Barr about the ethics of eating meat and whether there is any way to ethically consume food in a money-hungry world. Is going vegan the answer? How do we differentiate between the animals killed for livestock, and the ones killed to flatten fields for crops? Matthew discusses his reasearch and approach as both a chef and a farmer.

You can find the book here, published by Murdoch Books and available at most bookstores.

Matthew Evans is the star of the long-running SBS TV show, The Gourmet Farmer and is the owner and operator of the Fat Pig Farm. Matthew also has a series on Australia’s insatiable appetite for meat, called For the Love of Meat, as well as a recently released documentary about the sustainability of Australia’s seafood industry, called What’s the Catch?, both available on SBS on Demand.
