Morning: Hand drawn animation and drawings

Morning is a hand-drawn animation about the first hour of my day.

Although the plot is relatively simple, I have tried to draw each gesture and object as vividly as I can.

In doing so, I have tried to reclaim a part of my day that I am rarely conscious of.

Stop-motion animation is well-suited to this undertaking. It is slow and repetitive, and it often involves a close examination of subtle, almost imperceptible movements.

Morning exemplifies my approach to drawing in both its domestic subject matter and in its attempt to intensify an experience of life through the close observation of fine details.

Cultural activities will run through the last 2 weeks of the festival. Activities include traditional Japanese drumming, calligraphy performances, personalised origami and bonsai workshops, and traditional Yosaki Soran dancing.

Visitors can also test their paper-folding skills and contribute to the 1,000 cranes origami challenge, brew matcha flavoured tea with T2 or make their own sushi with Sushi Hub.

Surprising, moving, entertaining – the fascinating world of music in early NSW is revealed here for the first time as a place of melodious complexity.
