Due to the popularity of the Wizard’s Cauldron Sydneysiders now have more time to unleash their inner magical being, brew potions, cast spells, and drink more mead than they can shake a wand at.
This immersive magical pop-up bar combines magic and mixology in a simmering 90-minute experience. Don your robe and sip mead as you experiment in the ancient art of potion making. Concoct devilish brews for good (or evil), all under the watchful eye of our wise potions master. Complete challenges to unlock your ingredients at this hands-on magical experience!
Alas, be warned! Tickets are extremely limited so make sure to book now.
Your magical potion bar experience includes:
a robe and wand on entry (must be returned to the masters)
a tasty mead or mulled wine and 2 alcoholic potions
potion making with the help of our potion master.

British Film Festival 2019
The first highlights from the British Film Festival feature some of the most anticipated films of the year – from powerful true stories and literary adaptations to biographies and documentaries.
With 20 new release titles plus a retrospective on Dame Helen Mirren and some restored gems, this year’s selection sees British cinema at its best.
The Mini British Film Festival will open nationally with Military Wives from director Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty, 1997). Kristin Scott Thomas leads this inspiring drama about the bravery of the women of war, and the power of the music that saved them.
Closing the festival will be the highly anticipated film The Good Liar. Based on the widely acclaimed novel by Nicholas Searle, Oscar-winning screenwriter Bill Condon (Gods and Monsters, 1998) directs this wicked thriller featuring magnificent lead performances by Dame Helen Mirren and Sir Ian McKellen.
Presented by Palace, the MINI British Film Festival will screen nationally from 29 October. Such is the popularity of the festival, the 2019 edition will run for an extra week longer until 24 November.

The Big Anxiety Festival
The Big Anxiety Festival, the largest mental health and arts festival in the world, returns in 2019 after the success of the inaugural Festival in 2017.
The 6 week long biennial Sydney festival promotes mental health and wellbeing in exciting arts projects that combine science and creativity. Unlike any other arts festival, The Big Anxiety has a unique practical focus, harnessing creative expertise to improve our capacity to take care of ourselves and others.
In 2019 the Festival’s focus is on Empathy and Stigma; Care and Healing; and Suicide Prevention.

Retro Horror
The exhibition focuses on three artists—Tsunezo Murotani (b. 1934), Hino Hideshi (b. 1946) and Ochazukenori (b. 1960)—each representing a different phase of the genre from the 1960s to the 1990s. Notably, this will be the first ever showing of Ochazukenori’s work outside of Japan.
This exhibition features over 70 original genga drawings by Tsunezo Murotani and Ochazukenori, reproductions of iconic works by Hideshi Hino, and publications by artists including Junji Ito, Tezuka Osamu, Kazuo Umezu and Masako Watanabe; as well as a manga reading lounge, with horror manga classics in English and Japanese available to browse.
The exhibition is part of The Japan Foundation, Sydney’s HORROR MANGA JAPAN event program, which is being held to coincide with the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ Japan Supernatural exhibition and the JFF Classics film program, Grief and Vengeance: Otherworldly Tales.
