There will be live music playing while you browse the stalls, and enjoy the historic surrounds of the Sydney Town Hall.

Town Hall train station is directly below the Sydney Town Hall and bus stops are also easily accessible.

ATMs
There are many ATMs available for use in the area, and most stallholders do accept credit/debit cards, however, we would suggest visitors to the market bring cash to avoid any disappointment.

Food and drink
There will be no food or drinks sold at this event, so we suggest you purchase coffee, drinks or bring any snacks along with you prior to entering the markets. Town Hall is surrounded by many delicious cafes and food outlets. Woolworths is also situated directly opposite the venue.

For more than 4 decades the Biennale of Sydney, Australia’s leading exhibition of contemporary international art, has engaged with Sydney’s public spaces in ways that are unexpected, fun and sometimes provocative.

The title of this exhibition takes its name from that of the 1979 Biennale of Sydney, ‘European Dialogue’. Now considered a watershed exhibition, it was the first in the world to present current work by Australia’s First Nations artists on a shared platform with contemporary Western art.

Dialogues between diverse cultures have ensued in Biennale exhibitions over the 4 decades since. Parallel to that conversation, an ongoing dialogue continues to unfold between Biennale exhibitions and the city of Sydney itself.

This archival exhibition reveals how artists from all over the world have reimagined Sydney, responding to landmarks, previously hidden sites and little-known histories by offering new insights and alternative ways of experiencing our city.

An exhibition of paintings that explore the space between dreams and reality.

“Both dreams and the reality we face everyday in life are both personal and universal, so I hope that everyone can take something from this collection of paintings in some way. I am attempting to draw the viewer in and to have him or her experience and grasp the ‘puzzle’ and by bringing in a bit of themselves too. My work deals a lot with identity and the figures search to find themselves, as mothers, as women, as children, as artists. The women in our family constantly recall memories and stories from the past and ‘dreaming’ is very much encouraged.

“I draw and paint from imagination, instead of from life, as this gives me a freedom to express and explore ideas and themes. My work is often large-scale, brightly coloured with primal and primitive compositions with their motifs and content invariably overshadowing discussion of their formal properties. I come from a family with a Romanesque and Mughal background and the art from these cultures very much permeates my work.

“I am known and am unapologetic for my female perspective in my artworks. I try to create a bond between realism as their defining style and a narrative which focuses on single moments, mysterious and revealing at the same time. Most works manifest a distillation of collected experiences into a visual unity, time and feeling. There is an essence of myself, combined with elements of alter egos and moods to match any given day. Art inevitably reveals your life and you as a person, exposing you to your audience, and you become very aware of what you choose to present and what you choose to hold back or, maybe, modify.”

See Sydney’s city centre come alive with a street party involving roaming entertainers, roller-skating baubles, magicians, pop-up stages, craft, choirs, lights, decorations and a dancefloor.

The Martin Place Christmas tree will host a sound and light show every 15 minutes from 7.30pm. Brilliant fireworks will illuminate Sydney’s spectacular skyline.

What to expect
Kids’ entertainers will be live on the streets to party with you, including Jimmy Giggle, Justine Clarke, SplashDance and The Nannas & The Poppas.

Santa will arrive in his reindeer tricycle led sleigh – say hello as he rides his way through the event.

KIIS 1065 will bring everyone’s favourite Christmas day at the beach to the heart of Sydney’s retail precinct. With an array of shopping, there’ll be something for everyone!

Santa stockings packed with goodies will be on sale for $5. Proceeds go to our charity partner Surf Life Saving NSW.

There’ll be food for purchase throughout the event. GPO Dessert Bar will be back for the sixth year in a row. Treat yourself to a tempting range of gelato, sweets, cakes, coffee, cold beverages and savoury options. A water refill station will be located at the Martin Place fountain.

Bounce into the spirit of Sydney Christmas like never before.

Meeting place to foster repair in a collaborative setting

Engage in repair, learn new skills, share the ones you already know, and feel good about giving back to the planet.

On alternating Saturdays, the Bower will host themed repair cafes in the Banga Community Shed. We’ll bring electrical, clothing, bike and phone repair cafes into the space, to enable the community to repair, learn skills and promote reuse.

Visit us at the shed on 9 November to find out when to bring a broken item and how to get involved and share your knowledge as a volunteer.

Electrical repairs:
Bring a piece of electrical item to fix with one of our volunteers, learn to safely dismantle, identify issues and take home a renewed electrical.

Get out your cobwebbed frames and get back on the road with our bicycle tune up program where volunteers help you to build, maintain and repair bicycles.
