Firstly, we reprise a popular interview from last year – textile artist Julie Ryder talking about how she researched seaweed collections of the nineteenth century – in both Australia and Ireland.
Then we move to some present-day musicians.
First up will be Pete Marley, bass player for Distant Drum and one half of the song-writing duo behind Sydney’s retro-pop masters The Nature Strip. With fellow writer John Encarnacao, the band released three albums and two EPs from 2013 to 2018.
Marley now has a new solo album out under the band name, Marveline, entitled Savoury-Toothed Tiger He will be playing his latest single, Turpentine.
The final segment will focus on guest Howard Collins.
Originally from Dublin, Howard Collins is a seasoned entertainer and songwriter who has performed in renowned venues throughout Europe, US and Asia, at corporate and private functions, clubs, on television and stage.
Howard has developed a wide range of entertaining shows featuring popular music including his: Sinatra & Buble Tribute, Rock-n-Dance-n-Roll Show; Hits of the 80s Show; and The Irish Rogues Show. He is also writing a musical called The Jeanie Johnston about the Irish Famine and a ship sailing to America with fleeing immigrants.
Howard has three albums of his own material, Nothing Ventured, What Do We Know? and Moments in Time, including a recently released track Covid What Do We Know? which is instructive as well as offering hope – and has a positive spin.
