Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival preview

Mardi Gras Fair Day

It’s that time of the year again and the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras is gearing up for another fabulous Festival of performance, art, talks, music and dance. A packed program that has something for everyone, from the frivolous and saucy to the serious and thought-provoking.

Queer Art After Hours @AGNSW

Creative Director of this year’s Festival, Travis Conneeley, gives us a comprehensive preview of what to expect over the coming weeks.

One of the first events of the Festival is Fair Day, always a hit with families and their pooches. Expect politics, food, fashion, music and a little bit of mayhem.

Another popular event is Queer Art After Hours at the NSW Gallery. Discover the ground-breaking and the glamorous in an program of innovative performance art, installations, collection stories, music and gallery tours inspired by this year’s theme of UNITED WE SHINE.

Breaking the Code

For theatre goers, don’t miss Breaking the Code, which portrays the story of Alan Turing, an intelligence codebreaker at UK’s Bletchley Park during WWII.

Even though the Party has been cancelled this year, there is a plethora of smaller parties on offer.

Hyde Park Barracks is presenting an evening of live music, ideas, installations and discussions.

The Parade Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras

And of course the ultimate finale, the Parade. Again this year it will be a seated and ticketed event.
