ARTS WEDNESDAY 19 JANUARY 2011

At about 9:45 am Jonathan James will join me for Now Showing and Annette Larkin will be in the studio at about 10:10 am for episode number 5 of Investing in Art.

My special guest this morning is Marcela Restrepo. the illustrator for the Sydney Festival, responsible for the image of the cockatoos on telegraph lines which has become the iconic image for the festival. Marcela hails from Columbia, a country probably best known to Australians for drugs and drug lords! However, as always, there is a lot more to Columbia than that! In addition to talking about the festival, we will explore the history and ethnography of the country through its music.

I will play all South American music, but Marcela has a huge selection of Columbian music and we have collaborated on the choice of  tracks to play, both during the interview and also the rest of the show.

As always, I look forward to you company!
