Mardi Gras Magic on Armchair Traveller

SHOWS 6 and 20 April

Love is love, is love, is love!

So many questions spring to mind for this journalist –  why can we not celebrate love in all its forms – allowing freedom and expression of love; such a beautiful thing?

But at least there is one night, if not many, where all of Sydney and its sub-cultures seem to be on display in celebration of love!

March 5th, 2011 saw the ‘New Mardi Gras Parade’ in a ‘new’ light – under the creative direction of Ignatius Jones.

With a truely global feel – the economic force of this successful tourism event, proved a money spinner yet again – but how, with the gay & lesbian community being so strong economically, (with this fact acknowledge by politicians and parade organisers alike) –  can this section of the community still not have access to legal marriage. One might think that at least money would talk.

Well, with the theme “Say Something” – Sydney sure ‘came out’ and did indeed “say something”!

What I heard was “love is love” – and so can you! Listen to my Mardi Gras edition of Armchair Traveller on Wednesday 11.30am – noon, April 6th and repeated April 20th!

And hey, Eastside Radio loves you and so do I, thanks for listening!
