ARTS WEDNESDAY 23 MARCH 2011

At 9:45 am I will be pleased to introduce you to Jane Raffan, who will present Now Showing and at 10:10 am I will be equally pleased to introduce you to Rosemary Shepherd who is presenting the first 3 of a 6-part series on the history of lace.

At 10:30 am Dr Gene Sherman will make a welcome return to Arts Wednesday to talk about the new 8-screen video installation at the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation entitled No Snow on the Broken Bridge by Chinese artist Yang Fudong. It is an extraordinary piece – perhaps the  image below doesn’t do it justice! Its acknowledgement is:

Yang Fudong, No Snow on the Broken Bridge, 2006. 35mm film transferred to DVD, music by Jing Wang. Courtesy the artist and ShanghART Gallery, Shanghai.

Music will draw its inspiration from the art work: Chinese, seasons, mountains, lakes, trees and bridges.

As always, I look forward to your company!
