Evernight 3

On the eve of August 13, Armchair Traveller journeyed to Newcastle, the drive aptly illuminated by a full moon.Awaiting us there – a group of girls – proud to be known as “goths.”

In fierce make up and costuming more typical during haloween, UMBRA greeted us.

This group, (UMRBA) a gothic theatrical bellydance tribe invited us to experience Evernight III – a showcase of their dark theatrics.

Hear all about it on the program – August 31, 2011.

50’s Fair

The Fifties Fair is the ultimate celebration of all things 1950s, set in the grounds of Rose Seidler House – Harry Seidler’s first Australian commission (1948–50).This year’s entertainment included live music that lead to loads of jiving.

There were plenty of fine folk dressed in their best 50s threads, hoping to win a prize in the fabulous Fifties fair fashion awards – and many more that live the style of the mid-century everyday – just because!

There was specialist collectors and dealers, like our friends Retro Station, selling 50’s furniture, clothes, kitchenware, records and much more.

Armchair Traveller was thrilled to tour Rose Seidler House and view its post-war design collections.
