ARTS WEDNESDAY 31 AUGUST 2011

This week sees Part 1 of Brilliant, a new 6-part series on Australian gold and silver. It is the

title of a book edited and co-authored by Eva Czernis-Ryl, Curator of Decorative Arts at the

Powerhouse. Eva makes a welcome return to Arts Wednesday to present the series, which will

go to air at 10:40 am.

My special guest this week is Dr Jacqueline Strecker, Curator of The Mad Square, the new

exhibition opened at AGNSW. It displays art from Germany 1910 – 1937 and takes its name

from the painting (pictured) by Felix Nussbaum. It is a fascinating period in history and

the art reflects it all!

Music this week is inspired by Cabaret: the music, the movie, the genre – “divinely decadent”

as Sally Bowles described it!

As always, I look forward to your company!
