The Andrew Dickeson Quintet – Weaver Of Dreams

Local jazz drummer Andrew Dickeson has been a sideman to various projects, however on Weaver Of Dreams has taken the leading role on this quintet. The album, released on Rufus Records, is the debut from the man who is regarded as one of the most distinguished drummers on the Australian jazz music circuit.

Five Coffees – Flatline…

Another local band, Five Coffees’ debut EP fuses Hip Hop with jazz, soul and funk music. Produced by Steeve Body of De La Soul fame, Five Coffees are a band to keep an eye on. Check them out at their EP launch this friday 30th September at The Basement.

Independent Track Of The Week

Today’s independent track of the week was ‘Last Night I Heard Everything In Slow Motion’ by local producer Oliver Tank. I absolutely LOVE this track, the guy has massive potential. The Stepkids – The Stepkids

The US based band have toured with a whole host of R&B, soul and funk artists. Their debut album is a psychadelic fusion of funk, soul, indie and electronica with a 60’s feel throughout. Trippy.

Putumayo Presents African Beat

The Putumayo World Music label has compiled an album of contemporary West and Central African music. Definitely worth listening is the ‘Lagos Sound System’ by Les Barons, great horns and trumpets with an Afro twinge.
