Cranston Cup Theatre Sports

I first attended this improv-comedy event when I was 12 and I can honestly say I laughed as much then as I did last Sunday.

The Cranston Cup is a hilarious theartesports competiton, that runs anually and is now in it’s 27th year.

This year, the audience has more power than ever, getting in on the judging, the suggesting and, heck, even the playing! You can just watch if you want to, you can throw a brick at a judge if you don’t like what they think or you can throw some delicates at your favourite player.

This year the theme is SUPERHEROES… and each team boasts a variety of  superpowers.

each Sunday will have a 3:30pm show and a 7:30pm show with different teams playing. The grandfinal will feature on the 3rd December at the Enmore Theatre.

National Swap Day

National Swap Day can be a great way to turn spring cleaning into a fun night out. Take some quality pieces for your wardrobe that you don’t wear anymore, that someone else might love and swap them for some treasures of your own.

The small amount of garments that are left over are donated to Red Cross and Fitted for Work.

This event promotes recycling for a greener future through the fun of swapping.

When: Monday, October 17 – check-in 6.30pm for a 7.30pm swap

The Art of Dr. Seuss

An amazing array of artworks from the late Ted Geisel aka Dr Seuss. Right under our noses at the top of Oxford St.

Local Writers’ Word Festival

The Woollahra Local Writer’s Word Festival is in it’s seventh year and is now open for 2011.

They are calling for entries from fiction, non-fiction or poetry writers living in the Sydney Eastern Suburbs.

The winner will be revealed at an event at Woollahra council chambers in late November.

Prize money of $500 will be awarded best non-fiction, fiction and poetry works, and will be judged by renowned literary identity, Irina Dunn. Irina is Director of the Australian Writers Network, and the NSW Writers’ Centre.

When: entries close on Friday November 4, the prize will be presented at an event held at council chambers on Saturday November 26

Where: Woollahra Council Chambers

Cost: $20 submission fee

The Rose Bay Spring Fair

The Rose Bay Rotary Club presents the Annual Rose Bay Spring Fair. Go and join in the fun with free activities for the children including jumping castle, animal petting farm, swing ride and fairy face painting in Panerong Reserve. There will also be a variety of stall from more than 100 stalls from local businesses lining the streets of New South Head Road, Dover Road and Newcastle Street, Rose Bay.

This event also supports charities as The Bondi Cottage, Point Zero and The Children’s Hospital.

Maroubra Fun Run & Oktober Fest

This is always one of Maroubra’s biggest and best annual family and community days. No matter where you are from or how old or how fit you are, or whether you run, walk or wheel around the course, or prefer to skip the exercise entirely and just enjoy the festivities of Oktoberfest.

The course is a 4k out-and-back loop from the South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club.

Breakfast on Bondi Beach encapsulates the best bits of the Spring and Summer seasons – music, food, surf, and breakfast in the sun!
