Something Else – 13 October w. Jade Oldfield

Jade Oldfield at the Caravan Slam

Today Justine talks to Jade Oldfield, organiser of the Caravan Slam, a slam poetry event that moves around to a different venue each month, so that the energy of the slam is spread to different places all over Sydney.

We are very excited to be hearing some of Jade’s work live on air as well. For the past 3 years Jade Oldfield has been busy “cutting her teeth” amongst the international slam community. She’s performed at New York’s infamous Nuyorican poets cafe, numerous U.K Summer festivals and represented Bristol in the 2010 Slam titles. On returning to Sydney late last year, Oldfield was part of the collective which founded Sydney’s Caravan Slam – a grass roots style slam poetry evening, providing a platform for the slam curious and slam veterans.

The next Caravan Slam will be at the Surry Hills Library on the 20th October. More info can be found at their blog: https://caravanslam.blogspot.com/
