A Taste Of Honey November 10th

How good is Kenny Rankin’s(pictured)version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”…….he has done other great versions  in his own style of other Beatle songs, namely “Penny Lane”,”I’ve Just Seen A Face”,”Blackbird” and “With A Little Help From My Friends” and brings a sound somewhere between pop and jazz to these great songs…..have a listen to the album “The Bottom Line Encore Collection(live)” and “A Song For You”-his career went from pop and a singer songwriter to an enhanced jazz career with Verve which allowed him to demonstrate his love for jazz standards and his unique style of singing them…….he had a unique gift for reworking classic songs…….his self penned song “Peaceful” was a major success for Helen Reddy ……….Kenny always managed to keep his core audience while growing an extended jazz audience including the respect of jazz musicians across the board-he died from terminal lung cancer at the age of 69-thanks for the legacy of talent and songs Kenny………………..R.I.P.
