Eastside’s album for November 2009

interaThe catholics – Inter Vivos

A dream team of Sydney musicians …put a jazz spin on grooves from around the globe in a sunny, light-spirited way that belies the killer status of the players.” Australian Financial Review

Despite great acclaim for each one of their six albums, The catholics reputation rests very much on their exuberant live shows. For an amazing eighteen years, The catholics have been performing throughout Australia and the world, winning hearts, minds and bodies with their perfect blend of authoritative jazz blowing and joyous global dance rhythms.

And so it seems only right that The catholics release their first–ever live album, Inter Vivos.

In two discs, Inter Vivos (Latin for “among the living”) captures two full sets of music-making by The catholics in full flight at Sydney’s Sound Lounge, where the band have an unbroken record of sellout attendances going back several years.

“We’re so comfortable playing at the Sound Lounge,” says band-leader, Lloyd Swanton. “We’ve never had a gig there that’s less than wonderful. The acoustics are excellent, the stage is spacious, the audience is relaxed, and we just knew that it would be the perfect place to capture that special thing about our live shows.”
