The New Thing 28/11/11 Track List & Albums

Here’s what albums were featured on The New Thing today and which tracks were played!

Jeff Gauthier Goatette – Open Source

Eclectic and avant garde jazz violinist Jeff Gauthier is certainly a rarity amongst his profession. Open Source is the latest work from himself and his group the Goatette. Eccentric as ever, some tracks are cohesive others are a little bit more out there.

Tracks played on The New Thing:

‘Things Past’

‘From A Rainy Night’

‘Joy Of A Toy’

Dig (Directions In Groove) – Clearlight

It’s been thirteen years since Dig have released a studio album. This venture represents Jazz with hints of funk and even some moody electronica thrown in as well. It also features the sultry soothing vocals of Laura Stitt. An album that is popular around the station at the moment, you can catch Dig at The Studio at the Sydney Opera House on the 3rd December.

Tracks played on The New Thing:

‘Oberon’

‘New Sense’

‘Blind’

‘Pythonicity’

A Track From Eastside Radio’s Album Of The Week

‘Funky Monsters On The Train Way Back Down Home’ by Meem from the album Monsters Dont Sleep OK!

Wolfwolf – Happy Heart Breaks

An independent release from an artist to look out for. Wolfwolf produces futuristic funk but uses sounds from old, including 80’s synths and beats, and soul and disco samples. Very groovy and fun stuff, he is also giving his album away for free at the moment on his website! Check it out here https://wolfwolfmusic.com/album-released-today-time-to-pay-some-respects/

Tracks played on The New Thing:

‘Get To Know You’

‘Your Move’

‘Must You Dance?’

‘Whispers’

Independent Track Of The Week

‘Bloom’ by The Paper Kites. A sweet folky serenade.

Rattlehand – Rattlehand

A bluesy alt country finish to today’s show from Aussies Rattlehand. This is swinging, hoedown cowboy bluegrass stuff. Yahoo.

Tracks played on The New Thing:

‘Leavin”

‘Lord’ll Let You Down’

‘Money For Jam’

And today’s final track on the New Thing was a slice of folktronica from the I’lls’ , a band from Melbourne.

Be sure to tune in every Monday from 9.00 til 10.30am for your weekly dose of fresh new music!
