As intern at  Eastside radio, I looked through all the prizes that could be won for 12 Days of Christmas and almost jumped off my feet when I saw the New Zealand holiday prize.  In my opinion, it is the ultimate prize with 6 night’s accommodation at Beach Lodge Apartments on the magnificent Coopers Beach. I was most excited about the many facilities the location has to offer with water activities such as kayaking and boogie boarding and with my own private gym. #1 Blue Mountains Live Music Getaway

When I looked at the list with the prizes you can win at our Eastside Radiothon, one particular price draw my attention: A double pass for two nights at The Clarendon Guesthouse in the Blue Mountains! I went to the Blue Mountains some weeks ago and I can tell you, it’s been the best experience I’ve had in Sydney so far as an intern from Germany. Of course I also visited Katoomba, the most popular village of these beautiful mountains, which is not only the linchpin from where many famous hiking treks lead into the wilderness, it is also the place in which the Clarendon Guesthouse is located.

When you step into the Clarendon Guesthouse you enter a new world: Being built in the 1920’s, the Clarendon offers a warm and antique atmosphere and takes its guests back to the times of true musicians. Now known as the ‘Blue Mountains home for live music’, the Clarendon has been host for a numerous amount of artists and their gigs over the last decades.

And as if it wasn’t awesome enough to spend two nights in this iconic venue, the winner of the second major price of our Eastside Radiothon also gets a double pass to a gig of Tuba Skinny, a jazz and blues band whose 6 members met on the streets of New Orleans. # 2 All of Eastside Radio’s Feature Albums from 2011

I came to Sydney 3 month ago, and as the limit weight for luggage was set to 23kg by my flight company, I had to leave all my favorite CDs at home… But I was lucky and got an internship at Eastside radio, the perfect place to have access to all sorts of new music! That’s why – if I had the choice – I would probably choose the collection of Eastside’s Albums Of The Week among all the other fabulous prizes of the Eastside Radiothon.
For 25 weeks now our music director Sam Allen has selected the best albums that were released during this period, which means the winner of this prize will get all these 25 discs! Sandy Evans, Peter Knight, Dan Barnett and Lee McAllister are only some of the artists whose albums had the honor to be appointed by Sam.
One of my favorite albums is “Monsters Dont Sleep OK!” by the Sydney-based producer Meem, a unique album which combines various styles of music, including soul, funk, hip hop, dub, gypsy and disco, and creates a mix that simply makes you want to dance. I can also recommend “To The Horses”, the groovy debut album of singer Lanie Lane, and “Takadimi” by the only recently founded band The New Common Sense. Listen to Takadimi whenever you are in a not so good mood, because its mix “manages to maintain a fun and vibrant theme throughout”, just to quote Sam, our music manager. I `m a German intern and stay in Sydney for 5 months.  I have no idea what is going in Sydney or what I should do and therefore I read the amazing Time Out Magazine.  #2 Sydney Festival 2012

I`m a girl from Germany and stay the summer in Sydney therefore I have to go to the Sydney festival.  It`s at the second weekend in January and of course this date is red marked in my diary. It is an amazing festival with a lot of different events from music, theatre, dance, visual arts, ideas, free and family events including the Festival First Night. When you want to visit this great festival you should choose one of the different tickets.
One event is a double pass for Joshua Redman and Bred Meldau. When you love jazz music you have to go to this concert. Both of them are fantastic jazz musicians and the duo has reunited after 15 years, with Sydney Festival the first opportunity to hear this thrilling combination in Australia.

#3 How the Grinch Stole Christmas – framed print from the Art of Dr Seuss Gallery

As I was a child I loved the stories of Dr. Seuss. One of my favourites was “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” I would love to get the framed print “ How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. Everyone has a connection to this brilliant Christmas story written by Dr. Seuss.  This is such a great prize, even as a Christmas gift for a child or friends.
In some lunchtime I visit the Art Gallery of Dr Seuss at 8 Oxford St, Woollahra and have a look at the amazing prints, but my favourite print is “How The Grinch Stole Christmas”, because of the two bright colours and the Grinch figure. #1 High Flyer’s Little Secret on New Year’s Day
2011 has been a very successful year for me so I definitely think that it’s worth celebrating two days! For that reason “High Flyer’s Little Secret” would be the perfect prize for me to win.  Just going on dancing to great DJs’s music – right where I stopped the night before. Or even – if I don’t feel like dancing– it would be nice to be chilling outdoors and slipping some delicious Cocktails.
Sitting in the sun, enjoying an ice-cold beer or a fruity Cocktail, having a nice chat and listening to great music; that’s how I imagine a perfect public holiday at “High Flyer’s Little Secret”.  But rocking the dance floor to celebrate all the crazy stuff you did last year is something you shouldn’t forget either of course! I can think of some many things I would allow myself with a $2000 Voucher of Walsh’s Pharmacy; the very first thing would be a massage. I bet that’s the first thing many people would buy first of all. I mean, what is more relaxing than a person kneading all your tensions out of your body?  I always feel like a new person afterwards and believe in aiming everything I want to! So why not spending some voucher credits on feeling like a hero for a short time?
I would also love to finally get a professional mani- and pedicure because – to be honest- my toenails- and fingernails would be really pleasured to be spoiled by a pro for the first time.  It’s not like I don’t care about them at all but honestly, I really do think that there are more than enough parts of your body you have to look after so it’s not necessary to spend too much time on food- and fingernails, but if someone else would do if for me – that sounds pretty good!
