Paul McCartney – Kisses On The Bottom

The latest album from the old Beatle is perhaps not what you would expect from him. Featuring the likes of Diana Krall and Jamie Cullum, Kisses On The Bottom is a collection of songs that Macca has fond memories of that he has put his own twist on, plus a couple of originals as well. Light and easy little jazz numbers, a very easy to listen to album.

Three Lanes – Three Lanes

Three Lanes is a new trio formed by three time Aria award winning Jazz pianist Andrea Keller. Forming part of Keller’s two year Australia Council Fellowship program, Three Lanes was an opportunity for Keller two delve into the more unchartered lands of the jazz world. Featuring Genevieve Lacey on recorders and Joe Talia on revox B77, electronics and percussion Three Lanes is avant garde post modern jazz that requires to be meditated over.

Chaika – Chaika

Another debut album, this time from an exciting local act who blend a whole mish mash of genres . Klezmer, Irish, gypsy, jazz, Eastern European and harmonies all combine to create the sound of Chaika. This exciting little group are having their album launch at 505 on 21st March, worth checking out!

Packwood – Packwood

Another local independent act, Packwood has been truly ambitious on his debut EP. Featuring a full 50 piece orchestra, the banjo picker has taken his country folk sound to a whole new level. A times epic, this is an extremely extravagant EP.
