Three Lanes – Three Lanes

Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is Three Lanes’ self titled release.

Three Lanes are a new trio formed by three time Aria award winning jazz pianist Andrea Keller, and this release is the group’s debut.

The project forms part of Keller’s two year Australia Council Fellowship program and sees her delve into the more un-chartered lands of the jazz world.

Three Lanes also features Genevieve Lacey on recorders and Joe Talia on a Revox B77 tape recorder, electronics and percussion. Keller cites these musicians as two of her ‘most admired, intriguing and broad-minded musical colleagues.’

And broad-mindedness is key when listening to Three Lanes. The album is an avant garde, post modern exploration of jazz music. An incredibly innovative and ambitious project, the sounds span from soothing piano keys and almost playful recorder chords to more melancholic and testing electronic spaces. Three Lanes is an LP that requires to be listened to in one sitting preferably and meditated over.

Three Lanes is an independent release supported by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts. For more information go to www.andreakellerpiano.com
