ARTS WEDNESDAY 7 MARCH 2012
At about 10:40 am we begin a new short series, this time talking to Artists-in-Residence at various institutions around town. To start the series, I talk to Helen Earl, who was artist-in-residence at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney during 2011. Her year’s residency has concluded with her exhibition Cultivate, currently showing at the Red Box Gallery at the gardens.
At 11:00 am I will be pleased to introduce Michelle Nouri, author The Girl from Baghdad, her autobiographical book which takes us from her childhood and upbringing in Baghdad to her current life as journalist, media personality and author in Italy. What starts as a charming and charmed life turns into a horror story. I do look forward to meeting her.
Michelle was named after the Beatles‘ song – her mum used to sing it to her when she was baby! That seems a cue to play Michelle, along with other Beatles favourites.
As always, I am looking forward to your company!
