Herbie Hancock(pic.left)celebrates his 72nd birthday on this day-winner of 14 Grammy awards including an Album of the Year for ‘The Joni Letters’ and an Academy Award for ‘Round Midnight’ in 1986-started with Miles Davis and is now collaborating with current chart toppers-keep on Herbie!!!! and John Pizzarelli(pic.left)collaborating with George Shearing on one of the finest easy listening albums of the last decade-‘The Rare Delight of You’-RIP Jimmy Little(he of the smooth indigenous voice) -some piano tracks this week from Oscar Peterson,Katia Labeque and the still happening Dave Brubeck-a jazz pianist with a #2 Pop charting album from 1959 and still touring-keeping the music playing on Eastside!
