Baecastuff – Mutiny Music

An album that was launched a couple of months back at 505, six piece band Baecastuff are Rick Robertson on sax, Phil Slater on trumpet, Matt McMahon on piano, Alex Hewston on bass, Simon Barker on drums and Aykho Akhriff on percussion. Based on the story, music and culture that developed on Pitcairn and Nofolk Islands because of the Mutiny on the bounty, Polynesian percussion and samples are fused with Jazz improvisations.

Eric Alexander and Vincent Hering – Friendly Fire

The latest release on High Note Recordings features alto sax man Vincent Hering and Eric Alexander on Tenor Sax. To friendly rivals, the two combine electrically on Friendly Fire offering free flowing smooth New York Jazz.

Electric Empire – Electric Empire Deluxe Edition

These Melbourne soul brothers originally released this self funded, self penned, self released album back in 2010. After performing at Glastonbury last year, the band have since been snapped up by Red Disc records and the album has been re-released with bonus tracks and remixes.

Willis Earl Beal – Acousmatic Sorcery 

A deep, raw and unplugged album. Willis Earl Beal has lived an eventful life. One time homeless, the man’s mission is to be the “Black Tom Waits’, and there was a time he offered to sing you a song if you gave him a call.  The album has been recorded as if it were being played down a phone line. Blues, roots, folk, hip hop, afro and other general unique sounds all feature on this fantastic album.
