A Taste Of Honey May 3 2012

The TV series “Mad Men’ in addition to nailing the culture, fashions, idioms of the advertising business of the 50’s on Madison Ave NYC ,has inspired me to go back and find some of the music that we grooved and lived to from that era-not necessarily Jazz but it was another part of the music of our lives and the three featured tracks (*)are no exception. In addition today the artistry of Johnny Mathis,Nancy Wilson,Nina Simone,Joe Pass,Bee Gees et al., bring us into the mad month of May(and songs about May **)…my pick from the new releases available is Amadou and Mariam’s ‘Follila’ album..difficult to go past their own sounds and Mali music in total.
