Esbjorn Svensson Trio – 301

A posthumous release on the ACT label, Esbjorn Svensson tragically passed away in 2008 in a scuba diving accident. Earlier that year he had been recording at the 301 studios in Sydney, and it is these recordings that have been amalgamated and now released. The name 301 is also dediacated to the studios. The album is superb, Jazz pianism with an electro/acoustic edge, the album is deep, diverse and dynamic.

The Modern Congress – The Protagonist

The Protagonist is the first release by The Modern Congress for seven years. Lead by Sydney guitarist Tim Rollinson, who also leads the acid jazz band DIG, he is joined on The Modern Congress by fellow DIG members Alex Hewetson, Scott Saunders and Rick Robertson along with a whole array of other Australian Jazz heavyweights including Gerard Masters, Hamish Stuart,,Jonathan Zwartz, Tina Harrod and Edoardo Santoni. Fusion Jazz with soul, funk, dub, acid and Indisn music, The Protagonist is also Eastside’s Album Of The Week this week.
