Malawi Mouse Boys – He Is #1
The African influence on today’s show continued with this Afro roots/blues/gospel release. Named after the kebabed rodents they sell as snacks, the group use homemade instruments and recycled guitars to create their simple but delightful sound.

Independent Track Of The Week
‘Of Letters Lost’ by Sydney band Liam Gale & The Ponytails from their recently released EP Towers Of Time.
Giles Robson & The Dirty Aces – Crooked Heart Of Mine
Hailed by Sugar Blue and Paul Jones, Giles Robson’s harmonica skills are wild and exciting on his release with The Dirty Aces. Although the harmonica skills steal the show, his gritty voice also shines on this heavy smoky blues album released on Blues Boulevard label.
Tracks played on The New Thing:
‘Solidor’
‘Devil Led Evil’
‘Some Kinda King’
‘Crooked Heart Of Mine’
And today’s final track of the week was from Miriam Lieberman, who is performing for Eastside at Live at 505 next Thursday night! The track was ‘Monsoon Rain’
