After launching last night at Cambridge Street in The Rocks, where your very own Eastside presenters did their thing, this years SafARi promises to be better than ever!

The ‘unofficial’ fringe event to the Biennale of Sydney, SafARI showcases the work of our very own exciting and innovative artists from all over Australia. SafARI proudly takes advantage of the focus the Biennale period brings to visual arts and provides a platform for the grass roots level artists.

Founded in 2004 by Lisa Corsi and Margaret Farmer, SafARI has received an overwhelmingly positive feedback from the arts community as well as international visitors and the media, a legacy that will no doubt continue this year.

This year SafARi features the works of Brisbane artist Daniel McKewen as he examines the way society receives stories, in particular Hollywood blockbusters and tabloids. A key piece in Daniel’s production is a visual representation of relationships in popular television show, The Wire.

Another great artist to check out is Sydney’s very own Julian Day’s soundscapes. Julian’s work focuses on representing a sonic idea visually through synthesiser keyboards and the finished product is amazing!

But that’s not all, there are fourteen other amazing and talented artists exhibiting work that they have poured their hearts into, so it’s not too much to ask that you go and check it out, right?
