The New Thing 09/07/12 Playlist & Albums

Here’s what albums were featured on The New Thing today and which tracks were played!

Deep Jazz – The Meeting

German bassist and composer Jerker Kluge and his 8 fellow musicians make up the band Deep Jazz. The Meeting is their follow up album to their 2009 debut Heaven & Earth. Jazz with a definite Blue Note feel, classic moments are matched with soulful vibes and at times hints of Bossa Nova.

Tracks played on The New Thing:

‘Autumn Sun’

‘East & West’

‘Don’t Get Drowned’

‘The Meeting’

Independent Track Of The Week

‘One & Only’ by Abby Smith from her debut self titled EP.

Liz Green – O, Devotion!

The debut album from Liz Green, set to drop on these shores on 3rd August, has been five years in the making after the Manchester singer won Glastonbury’s emerging talent competition. A unique style, which features a her think Mancunian accent, expect vintage blues, jazz, and a folk blend.

Tracks played on The New Thing:

‘Rag & Bone’

‘French Singer’

‘Displacement Song’

‘Midnight Blues’

A Track From Eastside Radio’s Album Of The Week

‘Easy To Come Home’ by Dojo Cuts featuring Roxie Ray from the album Take From Me.

KonKoma – KonKoma

A new album on the fantastic Soundway Label, KonKoma are a London based Ghanaian band that delver fresh cool Afro Funk grooves. A totally funktastic release!

Tracks played on The New Thing:

‘Niebakwa’

‘Handkerchief’

‘Accra Jump’

‘Me-Kyin-Kyin’

Visioneers – Hipology

Visioneers is the brainchild of Marc Mac, one half of the 4Hero duo, and Hipology is their latest Mixtape. Hip Hop served up with a jazz/latin/funk twist, my favourite kind of Hip Hop!

Tracks played on The New Thing:

‘LuAnne From Harlem’

‘Rocket Man (Afro Latin Joint)’

‘Oil & Water’ feat. Notes To Self

Be sure to tune in every Monday from 9.00 til 10.30am for your weekly dose of fresh new music!
