The Strides at The Basement: Fela Kuti homage

Dust off your dancing shoes and get ready for a night where reggae meets funk at Sydney’s popular venue The Basement on Saturday August 11. Sydney based group The Strides are honoring the great work of Nigerian singer, saxophonist and political activist Fela Kuti with an afro-beat special described as ‘DANCEFLOOR MODE’.

The Strides are well known for getting the crowd going with their unique sound and dance style of music that mixes an eclectic array of sound and technique. With the recent release of their album ‘Reclamation’ it’s the perfect time to come together with like minded people and enjoy an evening of one of a kind style of music.

In addition to the 10 piece band there will be special guest performances on the night from several well known Sydney artists from a variety of genres… hip hop MC’s combined with soul and African singers make for a combination that is sure to get your feet tapping and heads nodding. This special afro-beat ensemble is an opportunity not to be missed!
