Petulant Frenzy play Frank Zappa: anything’s possible.

For those of extravagant and refined taste, Petulant Frenzy is a group of eleven musicians with a passionate love of the music of Frank Zappa. Described as the “best Zappa covers band I’ve heard” by Arthur Barrow, the bassist for the man himself, if you have any understanding of the cultural phenomenon that is Frank Zappa’s extraordinary career, this is a rare opportunity to experience the music as Frank himself would appreciate.

Playing Zappa is nothing like your regular pub covers band situation; the music requires exceptional skill to play, let alone interpret in the way that Petulant Frenzy does, at the same time both totally respectful and equally irreverent.

There is a palpable sense of fun to all aspects of the group, whose website promises “plenty of notes, much silliness, lumps of seriousness and potential transvestitism”.The Frenzy play when they can get gigs that promise to be ‘events’ rather than just another gig, so you can be assured that each show will be a special treat. Don’t miss out on their next one at Blue Beat on Saturday the 11th of August, with doors opening for dinner at 7:00pm and music starting from 9:30pm. Tickets are $25.
