Arts Monday 10 September 2012
ArtiFacts Eastside.
Join me, Jane Raffan, for another program about art objects and their stories, this time with their owner, curator and accidental collector, Ace Bourke.
I’ll be chatting with Ace about the exhibition, Ace Bourke: A Collector’s Journey, showing at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, just down the road a little way in Gymea. Developed around the themes of Family, Colonial Art, Aboriginal Art, Friends and Travel, the exhibition includes a core of magnificent bark paintings, Indian tribal art, traditional and contemporary Pacific works, photographs and, of course, Christian the Lion memorabilia, as well as the documentary film about the story’s revival.

And the music? We’ll be trekking along with Ace’s stories, so you’ll be hearing contemporary music inspired by the formative years of Ace’s art interests, the late 60s and early 70s, songs about family, and a jazz safari in homage to Ace’s African story.
As always, I look forward to your company, 10:30 to noon.
Jane
