May Contain Traces of Nuts

On last week’s show Joel & Rhys brought Something Else listeners a band making their radio debut. Nut & Butter Thing, the Sydney funk collective, talked to us about their musical escapades, including illegal train gigs and their bid to gain residency in James Dean Pizzeria. They also played a couple of live songs in the studio, which you can hear by downloading the podcast.

The band is a five piece comprising of vocals (Marisa Marsionis), guitar (James Diacono), drums (Frankie Symes), bass (Alex Eldridge), and trumpet (Ben Horsley). You might be lucky enough to find them at warehouse parties or playing at pubs, but more often than not, busking in the central tunnel at 8.30pm on Tuesdays. You won’t, however, find them online but if you google Nut & Butter Thing like we did, you might find some fun things to do with peanut butter.

The band will soon be releasing either a full length album or, as talked about on the show, a whole bunch of singles – they haven’t decided yet, so watch this space.
