Nigel Wearne – Black Crow
Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is Black Crow by Nigel Wearne.
Melbourne bluesman Nigel Wearne has returned with his second album backed up by his band The Cast Iron Promises and on it they deliver a rattling combination of country, blues, honky tonk, folk and gypsy music.
A man totally passionate about his music and craft, the thought and effort that goes into Nigel’s music is truly special. His talents do not only lie in his crooning vocals and skilled guitar picking skills, but also in his vivid song-writing and moreover the actual instruments he uses as well – most of which he has handcrafted himself. Indeed his is a true craftsman with his hands, his voice and his heart – and it can all be heard on Black Crow.
With songs ranging from mischievous bank robbers, wandering poets, old Aboriginal tribe leaders fronting resistance, and, perhaps most unusually, Nigel’s own love of eggs, the man of many talents has created a warm and spirit filled album that plays directly to your emotions.
Black Crow is an independent release by Nigel Wearne. For more information go to nigelwearne.com
