Fixed Term Position: 1st February 2013 to 31st January 2014

Salary: $45,000 pro rata

Summary

We present community based Drive programs every day of the week. We are currently seeking an experienced person to fulfill the role of an Executive Producer for these shows.

The successful candidate will have already worked in either a Journalism and/or Broadcasting sector and is looking for something with more flexibility. The position is for approximately 18 hours a week.

Short listed applicants will be interviewed by the Station Manager and two Members of the Board.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a unique and innovative community station.

Duties:

  • Manage a team of presenters, producers, editors and researchers to ensure the highest journalistic standards
  • Manage all requests for interviews and disseminate accordingly
  • Exercise editorial judgement in the commissioning, scripting and editing of stories to ensure that Drive delivers innovative and distinctive programming
  • Coordinate all Drive programs into a consistent sounding block yet unique in each program
  • Maintain a healthy and open dialogue with presenters and producers to allow ongoing, honest feedback on performance
  • Openly involved in on-air and online promotion and marketing strategy
  • Audience development of Eastside Drive
  • Monthly reporting on all Drive programs
  • Administrative tasks as required

 

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • At least 2 year’s experience in either journalism or broadcasting
  • Experience in liaising with communities, councils, event organisers, publicists and other media
  • Ability to input into the production process – e.g. interview concept, research, final production
  • Strong local community contacts relevant to Eastside’s audiences

Desirable

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Good face to face presentation skills
  • Ability to manage a team of station volunteers
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent time management.
