The Australian Poetry Slam National Finals
On tonight’s show, Justine will be chatting with Miles Merrill, spoken word poet and founder of the Australian Poetry Slam, and Jessica Santosa, this year’s NSW Runner-up and competitor and in the National Finals of the Slam.
For the past few months, heats have taken place in libraries, pubs, cafes and all manner of nooks in the cities and regions of Australia to select this year’s crop of finalists. The Australian Poetry Slam has been running since 2007 and has been growing ever since. This year, 16 artists will battle it out for $12,000 worth of prizes, including an Australasia slam tour to the Bookworm International Writers Festival and the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival.
