Here’s what albums were featured on The New Thing today and which tracks were played!

Paul Zaborac Trio – Actualize

Versatile sax man Paul Zaborac, originally from the US but now based in Sydney, has teamed up with his trio of Bill Williams on bass and Deva Permana on drums. The trio’s debut album features jazz in a variety of textures with great interplay between the trio. The drum work from Deva is particularly impressive as the trio experiment with their tempos.

Adam Dunning – Glass Bottom Boat

A perfect album for this beautiful weather! Adam Dunning has returned with his second album and he brings back his dreamy take on Bossa Nova. Recorded in Rio with a heap of Brazilian talent, this album totally personifies Eastside’s ‘Cool Tunes For Hot Days!’

Local man Grant Arthur of Bellyache Ben and the Steamgrass Boys has released a Christmas album! Launched at The Vanguard in Newtown last Saturday, the album is a fun and quirky take on Christmas songs in his own unique folk/country/bluegrass/jazz style. A perfect Christmas present for those who like their alternative Christmas tracks!

The Hushes – Black Betty EP

The new release from the Adelaide bluegrass/country quartet who were featured on Eastside earlier in the year with their debut ‘Cold River Blues’ as our Album of the Week! They continue where they lift off with totally infectious slide guitar from Cal Williams Jr, sultry vocals from Emily Davis, and toe tapping kicks from Kory Horwood on bass and Ben Timbers on banjo.
