The talented and exciting all female super collective Sirens Big Band launched their debut album Kali And The Time Of Change at Eastside Live at 505 last month. A cohesive fusion of jazz, Latin, Middle Eastern, Afro and Hip Hop, the album confirms the band as innovative and forward thinking, brimming with potential.

Wolfgang Haffner – Heart Of The Matter

Wolfgang Haffner is a notorious drummer in his homeland of Germany, and this marks his 4th album on ACT (although he has appeared on over a whopping 400 albums!!). On Heart of the Matter he dabbles his jazz with light electronica, world, and afro music. Easy on the ear throughout.

StormChasers – The Window

Featured on The New Thing about a month ago as the Independent Track of the Week, we took a bit more of an in depth look today at StormChasers debut EP The Window. The young 8 piece band from Brisbane play a fun and infectious blend of funk/reggae/folk/soul and pop resulting in a fresh sound brimming with energy.

Florelie Escano – Moody Blues

A singer with an undoubtedly hot future ahead of her. Florelie Escano is soon to become an unearthed soul gem from Melbourne, they just keep on shoveling them out down there! The girl has got fantastic talent, teaming up with members of Electric Empire and Hip Hop producer Lotek on this her debut double A side. The future is oh so bright for this one, if you like your Saskwatch, Clairy Browne and the like she is an artist you HAVE to check out.
