A storm is brewing… The Strides and True Vibenation hit Blue Beat next Saturday

Head on down to Blue Beat on Saturday February 16th for an outstanding night featuring two of Sydney’s premier roots outfits – afro and reggae legends The Strides and world-inspired beatsmiths True Vibenation! Add the soulful Slowpoke Rodriguez sextet into the equation and you’ve got a sure-fire sensational evening of summer roots, beats and rhythms.

The Strides are fast becoming a powerhouse on the Australian urban-reggae roots scene, with their characteristic afro-reggae-hiphop sound of melodic horns, driving basslines and the authentic vocal stylings of Barbados’ Reggae Master Ras Roni and Fijian MC Lil G-zeus.

True Vibenation brings a fresh approach to hip hop, blending elements of Afro-beat, jazz, dubstep, soul and latin music to create a sound that could have come out of anywhere in the world, yet is distinctly Australian.

Tipping their hats to the likes of Menahan Street Band and Bill Frisell, local six piece Slowpoke Rodriguez concentrate on feels and textures that avoid the affectation and alienation that can weigh down modern jazz.

8pm, Saturday 16 Feb @ Blue Beat – lock it in!
