From Boise to Bondi – Monday Jammin’s Phil James lifts Aussie jazz over the seas!

After a chance metting out the front of Venue 505 on Cleveland St, Monday Jammin’ presenter Phil James has been helping to spread the word overseas about some outstanding new Australian jazz talent.

Jazz Beyond The Sky presenter John McCarthy of Boise, Idaho (US) and Phil decided to start a segment in their respective shows – called Boise to Bondi – where they play great tracks sourced locally, sent to each other during each week.

From Mardi Gras in New Orleans to this week’s Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in the town of Moscow, Idaho, John has been sending some great tunes through – expect to hear some tracks recorded at the latter in next week’s Jammin’ on Monday!

In response, a new Australian act is getting some fantastic exposure on John’s show in the States, courtesy of Phil. Both have been loving the exchange of ideas and music and we hope it’s the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
