Aluka – Space
Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is Space by Aluka.
Having appeared on albums from the likes of Lisa Mitchell and Clare Bowditch, female A cappella trio Aluka have released their debut album Space.
Experimenting in recording locations all over Victoria including places as diverse as a swimming pool, a bar, cars and a world war two bunker, Space is an ambitious and innovative project from the Melbourne group.
Vocal styles sway between pop, hip hop, jazz and hymnal music resulting in an album that breathes fresh air into A cappella music. Tones move from blissful notes to groovier licks, with some fantastic improvised percussion too. Harmonies and time signature changes throughout the album are genuinely breathtaking, undoubtedly some of the best that you will hear all year round.
Without doubt after listening to Space you’ll be itching to hear the girls live, and you can actually catch them this Thursday 11th April at the Camelot Lounge in Marrickville!
Space is an independent release by Aluka. For more information go to showoffservices.com
