In a very special show on May 31st, Australian audiences will for the first time experience the power and creativity of Miguel Atwood- Ferguson, one of the most important and influential musicians working in the US today.

As a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer, music director, producer, DJ, and educator, Atwood-Ferguson has worked with a wide array of musical giants, such as Wayne Shorter, Quincy Jones, Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, John Cale, Ray Charles, Guru, Flying Lotus, Common, Bilal, Ravi Coltrane and many, many more!

One of Miguel’s gifts as a multi-instrumentalist is his ability to record as an entire orchestra by himself, he has been called “The One Man Orchestra” by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas. He composes for violin, viola, cello, and sometimes basses, piano, keyboards and percussion, and plays all of the instruments.

For his two Australian shows, Atwood-Ferguson will be bringing along his ‘Ensemble’ and will be joined by local guests. Melbourne singer Nai Palm has recently been gathering a great deal of international recognition with her ‘future-soul’ group Hiatus Kaiyote. Also from Melbourne, modern chanteuse Sophia Brous has wowed critics and audiences alike with her complex yet satisfying jazz-pop compositions.

In addition to these guests, the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble will be supported at these shows with the debut performance of the newly formed Myele Manzanza Trio. Soul and beats aficionados will recognise this young rhythmical talent from across the ditch as the drummer of acclaimed NZ act Electric Wire Hustle.
