Spanish Gold – El Coro

Be whisked away and explore the world of hispanic choir through the passion and melodic romance of the spanish El Coro choir, coming to you on Friday, the 24th of May, at the St John’s Centre, St John’s RD, Glebe.

Experience an array of breathtaking arrangements, and a choral concert , in their first performance of 2013 with the centre piece focusing upon one of Spain’s key performers of the golden era, Tomas Luis de Victoria: Missa Ave Maris Stella (Hail Star of the Sea).

Complimenting this composition, includes; pieces by two other Spanish ‘greats’, Guerrero and Morales, as well as works by earlier along with modern Spanish composers covering the full catalogue of Spanish emotion throughout  the ages.

Unknown-1

Along with these musical arrangements, which are offered in this cavernous space of St Johns,  perfectly suited for the mass. This performance opportunity  includes, the world  premier of Australian composer David Basden’s setting of poetry by Garcia Lorca; a poet who was slain by national forces during the Spanish Civil war.

Since its beginnings in 2010, El Coro has built a steady and still rising reputation, instenively performing and centring upon, Spanish and Latin – American arrangements, all over Sydney and Australia.
