MISTER OTT at 505
This Saturday at 5o5, Sydney saxophonist Matthew Ottignon launches two new singles from his new world/jazz fusion group, Mister Ott.
Everywhere he’s been, Matt Ottignon has soaked up the local music culture, collaborating with resident artists and creating new music. Mister Ott promises to be a unique blend of ancient Ethiopian rhythms and hip-hop beats mixed in among organs, percussion and strings.
At the live launch this Saturday 15th June, Ottignon will release the band’s two debut singles: ‘Mattaraja’ and ‘Take It Higher’.
This show includes two sets, dancers and guest musicians combining with some of Sydney’s top performers, including Eden Ottignon, Ellen Kirkwood, Dan Kennedy, Mark Ottignon, Ben Panucci, Daniel Pliner, Steve Marin and Peter Farrar.
Ottignon says of the band, “I see MISTER OTT as creating new music that draws from virtually every culture, tradition and society on the planet. This is music that washes away the dust of everyday life and gives the soul room to breathe. Once experienced, it becomes part of who you are.”
Matthew Ottignon’s new band MISTER OTT premieres at 8.30pm on the 15th June at Venue 505 in Surry Hills.
